Cutting cost on making items cuts cost on the retail price. Good for us and the environment.

Newbie making ... not so smart post, what else is new?

What didn't get as much media attention is the added support for Low to High LTH Blu-ray discs. These discs, included in "Blu-ray Disc Recordable Format Ver.1.2" specifications, use an organic dye recording layer. The technology will help to reduce the cost of making the discs because it eliminates the need for large-scale manufacturing plant investments, and will allow older modified CD-R and DVD-R manufacturing equipment to be used as part of the process.

This is good - cheaper manufacturing means cheaper media prices.

Now all we need is for the prices of the burners to come down.

cheaper production costs means lower quality....
changing the material going into the disc means lower quality
seen it happen with CDs and DVDs over the years. gotta love those discs that last for only a couple weeks.

PS3 firmware update v2.20 has made wireless streaming of movies less stable than before the update ! (yes.... I've read elsewhere about other people having the same problem)

Before the update a movie would start within 10 seconds now it takes 30 - 40 seconds before the movie plays PLUS occasionally the movie stops for a second or two then resumes....

So..... Sony gives us Profile 2.0 for Blu-ray but screws up the streaming of DIVX and WMV..... Good job boys !

Oh and the Sony browser sucks big time - why can't they use Opera Mobile which works like a charm on my Archos

You can... you can even use firefox.

Hence the linux partition.

The wireless streaming will be fixed.. the problem is you need to complain to the right people.. like maybe SONY or something. Bitching about it here just spins your tires in the mud.
